The curse arrived with belief in a lie. But, this lie is combatted, almost immediately, by the gracious promise of God, even as Adam and Eve are cast from the garden. He did not forsake them, to be sure. For even in the grief of a sin-torn relationship, this promise offers a flicker of light in the darkness.
It offers hope.
It serves as an invitation to begin to trust what will prove irrevocably true throughout the rest of the story. The Enemy will be defeated. Implicit though it may be here, relationship will be restored. The Lord will make a way to be with His people.
